Provide highly customer-oriented production control specialists.
The production control specialists shall possess good organization, problem-solving, and communication skills and have prior experience in a high-volume production control environment.
The production control specialists shall be responsible for job scheduling and dissemination of all output to the various County agencies, and shall ensure the most effective processing of the daily workloads and electronic files or printed outputs.
General
Experience:
This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT experience and at least three (3) years of specialized experience working in a computer operations center with computer production scheduling experience.
The position also requires the ability to function in a multi-system and/or multi-application environment; ability to operate and monitor multiple terminals; knowledge of IT operations, equipment, procedures, and workflow; knowledge of environmental requirements of mainframes, servers and other hardware, as well as knowledge of emergency security procedures for a computer operations center.
A working knowledge of job scheduler Zeke is highly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A thorough knowledge of data processing and production scheduling.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of Job Control Language (JCL).
The ability to effectively use an automated production scheduling product.
The ability to schedule large volumes of systems production work in an efficient manner.
The ability to train, supervise and coordinate the work of subordinates in assigned functions.
The ability to resolve scheduling and production problems.
The ability to prepare required reports and maintain statistical data.
The ability to maintain effective working relationships with user agencies.
The ability to demonstrate verbal and written communication, proficiently.
Duties:
Establish detailed schedules for utilization of all equipment in the computer operations center to obtain maximum usage.
Consult with personnel in other Information Technology sections to coordinate activities, and prepare activity and progress reports regarding the computer operations center.
Evaluate production, equipment and personnel costs.
Analyze and interpret technical Information Technology data.
Communicate technical information effectively both orally and in writing.
Apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the data center.
Education: Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited two-year college with an Associate's degree in computer science or related field, and in addition, three years of computer production scheduling experience
