We are looking for a z/OS System Programmer in Largo, MD
z/OS System Programmer

Job Description:
Provide highly proficient z/OS systems programmers to augment the County's systems programming staff.
These programmers shall have the skills necessary to take the lead on z/OS operating system, subsystems (CICS, JES2, etc.) and communications (TCP/IP, SNA) installation, maintenance and enhancement in a sysplex configuration.
Unix operating system experience is highly preferred, as the z/OS has embedded Unix capabilities.
Linux experience is also highly preferred.
Experience:
This position requires a minimum of at least ten (10) years of specialized experience in the installation, maintenance, enhancement of IBM operating systems (z/OS and Unix), subsystems (CICS Transaction Server, JES2), communications protocols (TCP/IP, SNA), hardware configuration (IOCP, HMC, OSA, ESCON, FICON) and internet browser languages (HTML, XML).
Linux installation and maintenance experience is highly preferred.
Duties:
Install regularly updated versions of IBM z/OS, CICS TS, Omegamon, JES2, and Communications Server software in a sysplex configuration.
Maintain and migrate local enhancements for the regularly updated environment.
Plan, and direct, hardware changes as may be required by technology advancements.
Coordinate regularly scheduled backups using software, encryption and tape storage to be transported to the disaster recovery site, including semi-annual testing of the DR plan.
z/OS Systems Programmer.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Information Systems. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience will also be considered.
