We are Prince George's Proud! The Prince George's County Government County Council is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Part-time Executive Assistant position, grade G13, within its County Council Administration Division.
About the Position:
This is part-time entry level secretarial/administrative type work designed to relieve an important official of administrative detail.
Good judgment and discretion are essential to the security of confidential information and data.
Under close supervision, incumbents perform routine to moderately difficult office responsibilities.
Responsibility extends to conveying important administrative information concerning internal service functions and the mission of the agencies' programs and projects.
Examples of Work What You'll Do:
Performs secretarial and clerical tasks in support of the Council Administrator.
Maintains current and comprehensive knowledge of the Council's regulations and internal procedures.
Acquires and maintains a sense of the Council Administrator's verbal and written style and opinions.
Takes and transcribes dictation, if necessary.
Types reports, letters, memoranda, speeches, news releases, etc.
Prepares a well-planned, thoroughly proofread letter for signature.
Answers phones in a professional and friendly manner and directs calls to the appropriate staff person or agency.
Responsible for tracking office supply inventory and preparing new supply requests.
Responsible for submitting, tracking, and closing out facility service requests and assisting in maintaining a well-organized office.
Uses tact, diplomacy, discretion, and patience when assisting internal and external customers.
Manages the Council Administrator's calendar of appointments and meeting commitments.
Regularly uses good judgment in determining the best utilization of the Council Administrator's time in arranging appointments.
Updates the Council Administrator on important matters.
Manages the Council Administrator's files by promptly and accurately filing correspondence, enabling the immediate retrieval of any item.
Assembles meeting materials upon receipt of agenda items to allow adequate time for review by the Council Administrator.
Willingly and cooperatively performs other duties and tasks that may not be within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.

certificate with coursework in typing, office practices or other related clerical subjects.
One (1) year of advanced diverse and/or technical clerical experience which must have involved working with the public for at least six (6) months.
Applicants must be proficient in typing and in shorthand where required.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Upon selection, the candidate must:
Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
Participate as an Essential employee in the department's snow and ice control program and other emergency or special activities as assigned.
Applicants who meet minimum qualifications must pass an administered Administrative Aide exam.
Applicants who have previously taken the exam on or after 2/1/2023, and passed, will not be required to re-test; instead, previously test scores will be used to receive the passing disposition.
DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligible candidates, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date.
Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
