Unit Technician (Part Time, Non-Union)

Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Unit Technician provides clerical support such as assembling and maintaining patient charts, scheduling diagnostic procedures, completing admission and transfer/discharge forms, greeting and directing visitors, answering the telephone, relaying calls and messages, providing approved routine information.
He/she performs all equipment maintenance and cleaning for all equipment on the unit on a scheduled basis and maintains adequate supply levels on the designated unit.
He/she stocks supplies on each unit and ensures efficient and timely pickup and delivery of unit associated goods, supplies and transport of labs as needed.
Incumbents in this position are scheduled to work less than 1000 hours per year.

QualificationsPrincipal Duties Demonstrates understanding of teamwork by performing other duties willingly when requested Plans and organizes clerical work, completes duties within appropriate time frame and provides an accurate concise report to relief Assists in coordinating patient care activities by communicating with other health team members as requested, keeping staff informed of scheduled test and procedures and running errands as needed Coordinates patient movement by keeping charge nurse and nursing staff informed of admissions, transfers and discharges.
Coordinates, as appropriate, patient movement with other departments Maintains patient's 'hard' chart as needed Recognizes need for cost containment by maintaining supplies, forms and equipment at appropriate levels Demonstrates timely and accurate operation of computer Assists in the smooth and efficient operation of the unit by keeping the work environment orderly and business like; maintaining filing system, organizing and maintaining critical information such as physician phone numbers, agency referral information, tracking and ordering office supplies, equipment and forms, maintaining required unit statics as requested Maintains all equipment and supply areas to include preventive maintenance, repairs environmental inspections, cleanliness and safety Assures all rental equipment is returned when no longer in use Identifies equipment and supply problems and communicates issues or concerns to the Director or department manager Seeks guidance and direction prioritizing multiple demands to effectively meet patient needs Stocks supplies on designated unit as needed Performs all duties as directed by the charge nurse, director, or the nursing manager Maintains area of responsibility in a neat and orderly condition Stock and return equipment and supplies to proper storage area.
Education/Knowledge High school diploma or equivalent required.
One year experience in medical position preferred.
Must be able to use Microsoft Applications Unit Clerk or Office manager or similar position in healthcare setting or equivalent.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
